Going For Olympic Grandma Gold

Hello dear friend!

If you are visiting from storm central, I hope that this post is finding you warm and safe at home! Gosh, living in Southern California makes me forget that there are such things as snow storms. You would think that I hadn't just spent almost 20 years living in the far away land of New England, but I digress.

I am taking part in the Olympic Challenge, hosted by our very dear Mel, as part of the 2018 WIPocalypse SAL, over at Measi's Musings. There are three options to choose from (I love options!) and I chose "Endurance Race," which is to stick to ONE piece for the Olympics, and see how far you can push that one piece toward finishing. With that in mind, I have decided to challenge myself to begin and finish...

"Shhh Counting Sheep" by Artful Offerings...

However, I am going to change it up a bit to accommodate a Baby Girl...because, you see...

I am going to be a Grandma!

Yes, dear friend, you read it right!

Big Brother and Daughter In Love are expecting their first child ( and our first grandchild) in early August! We are all so beyond excited and feeling very blessed.  I just can't stop smiling, imagining a little one coming into our family for all to love and fuss over! Me-Ma is so thrilled to be a great-grandma (this will be her first too!) that we have both been all aflutter with the fun of it all! We are now planning to make a baby quilt together...more on that later. I ask you to please keep mama and baby in your prayers.

I just fell in love with this pattern when I first laid eyes upon it and knew that I just had to stitch it as a door pillow. I am going to stitch it on 32 ct "Touch of Pink" Linen and will change up the colors a bit, as well as using Rainbow "White" Whisper for the lamb's fur so that it will be fun and fuzzy to the touch...for our little lamb.

Unfortunately I am starting a bit behind the eight ball as my fabric never showed up from the first shop that I ordered from, but thanks to 123stitch.com for saving the day with a fabric on it's way. I will be able to start on it this week...only a few days late...fingers crossed.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my happy news!
Hugs
