RRRRgh!

It's always fun and games until someone lets in the "frog."

I was rolling along on "Vermont," with my needle smoking and a confident smile on my face when all of a sudden I noticed that the "R" was quite a bit shorter than the "T!" I was confused as to how this had happened and even went back and re-counted every stitch within the "R"  but it was all correct. And then....I realised just where I had run amok, that I had started the "R" from the bottom and had forgotten the lake was below it!

See that itty bitty lake?

Ah well, today I started with a bit of froggin'

and then "Vermont" will be set aside until the weekend while I start on my "Prairie Schooler "ABC" for the Stitching Bee.

I am so excited to finally be starting this gorgeous set of charts! It seems to have taken "forevah" to get the entire set of charts, as I had to order from a few different shops, but I now have the entire set as well as an extra "DEF," go figure! I went to Michael's and got all of my floss for the entire set of charts and I am off to start!

I am going to stitch this sampler on 25 ct "Potato" Lugana using the charted DMC floss in a 1x1, and as I have never done a 1x1 on anything other than Aida, this will be interesting.  Luckily I found what floss I did have in my stash, and what floss I needed I found at Michaels for 35 cents each and a 40% discount off the total...I know right?!

Wish me luck! If you would like to see what it is that I am stitching and who I am stitching along with, visit the Prairie Schooler ABC Stitching Bee, or click on the picture, on the lower right side of my blog, to check it out.

In other news, as excited as I am to start my first HAED design, "Deck The Halls," I have decided to move it to the bottom of my "2012 Challenge List," simply because it just required so much floss that I just didn't have in my stash, and since I decided to go ahead and purchase all of the the floss for the "ABC" it seemed like the prudent thing to do. So, I will wait and start that beauty in the fall, when I can devote both the time and the money with a clear conscience and a happy heart.

And, before I forget, I also went ahead and eyeballed the floss colors for the CCN "March Cottage" while I was in the floss aisle of Michaels, and this is what I chose...DMC 744, 904, 3348 and 3833, plus the WDW "Pecan," which I know I have in my stash.

Though I don't know what the exact charted colors will be, I figured that I will just start buying my floss when I have the time and the coupon and eyeball it from the picture each month and chose colors that are as close to the real deal as possible, in fact it will be a new game for me, to see how close I come to the actual DMC colors charted! ....brilliant!

As I read through this post, prior to publishing it, I realised that I sound like a bit of a Cranky Pants, however I decided to just leave it as it because it's just one of those days, like we all have where I don't really have anything specific on my mind, but rather just an overall crankiness about me. So, I hope that I have neither scared you off, dear friend, or offended you. And, as you all know me, I know that I have done neither. ;)

On a pleasant note, I have been reading and catching up with blogs this week, and everyone seems to have such beautiful projects going, as well as some amazing progress! Big round of applause, hugs and high fives as I am in the company of such very talented artisans.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit on this dreary and drizzly Thursday, and hoping that wherever you find yourself, it is without "the frogs" or your Cranky Pants....wait, red faced giggle!

Ma, you certainly didn't sound at all cranky, and I'm sure I'd have vented a lot more about that amount of frogging! It's a lovely piece, though, and well worth backing up to keep the lake at the bottom - it would look pretty funny on top of the R, lol. I'm wondering, though if you ever truly sound grumpy???

You don't sound cranky at all! So sorry you had to frog that R though. Vermont is looking good & you've got some nice future projects planned. Have a lovely day! Blessings, Shirlee

Hey there is nothing wrong with a little cranky every now and than. As a matter of fact you need to put a little more umph into it. Love your stitching, sorry about the frogs.

Well, frogging can make me cranky too LOL, and actually I have frogging to do but put it away to deal with when I have the patience :)

Oh well... bugger than darn frog!!! I'm so sorry you have to frog that R. :(

Where were you Cranky Pants? I reread the whole thing and nothing. :)

I was going to suggest putting the lake above the R.... Now, THAT might make you cranky. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Stupid frog!!! It looks great though!

Oh Ma, so sorry 'bout those dern 'ole frogs...they find all of us some time or another.
Your PS is just too awesome! Those floss colors - whoo=ee, they're perty! Let me know how that over one stitching goes. I've never done it, but the effect seems to be really beautiful!
I'm ready to start my first HEAD...the last sale made me cave. I'll be doing "The Snow Family". I hope to have it finished before my hair is the color of a snowman, but I'm not going to be holding my breath on that one. LOL

I'm sorry those frogs spoiled your day and I hope by now they've taken their leave. I'm dealing with some frogging myself right now but it's my own doing. I'm not happy with a floss colour in one of my stitches so I'm swapping it out for another.
Vermont does look fantastic though!

Good luck with your ABC SAL. I've seen these finished and they're wonderful! The over one on 25ct is not all that bad.

An Irish Prayer

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Amen
