I'm Doing It!

I am going stashless for a year!

Don't get overly excited, dear friend, you will not be inheriting my inventory of stash, but I have made a commitment to myself that I will not add to what stash I have. I have borrowed some rules from other blogs, and made them my own. I am hoping that by doing this I will learn how to work within my cross stitch means and be more creative with what I have, and as a life learning experience to realize that there is much pleasure to be gained in the doing, as there is in the buying of treats.Think of it as a gift from me to me, so that I can learn what my priorities in life should be.
My Stashless Year Rules:
  • I must not buy ANYTHING that can be used in any crafts.
  • I cannot ask anyone to buy anything on my behalf.
  • Any items bought for me as a gift must be un-prompted
  • and without hints or bribes.
  • I will stitch the autos that I am currently receiving, but I will not join anymore SALs or auto groups.
  • If I don't have the specialty floss that my autos require I will substitute with my abundant supply of DMC or other floss equivalent.
  • I can enter Giveaways, but only if it is from someone else's existing stash.
  • My current auto SALs:
  1. LHN Monthly Ornaments
  2. LHN Year Of Sampler Smalls

I will use my existing stash, and will not add to it!

So, here is to a stashless year!

I can do this!

I'll tell you the same thing...I'll make up for it because I'm just making a stash. ;)

Kim...thanks, I will need it :)

Parsley...I am glad to know that you will helping he economy while I am off the stash. I am adding a few extra little goodies into your prize box to help start you off :)

Now, I am curious!

I can't help the economy too much. Homeschooling teacher moms get no pay. ;)

Karyn, you are so funny, girl!
I started packing my lunch for work just so I could buy more stash. I couldn't join you on this one because I would never make it.
I'm dreaming right now that I could be at my friend Terrie's shop which is opening today but I'm too lazy on my day off to drive the 2 hours round trip. Online is the best enabler I found.
Good luck! I've been adding to my stash since I was about 18 so that can tell you how much I have.
If you need anything, let me know!

Karyn said...'ll just have to wait kid :)

Jennifer...thanks ((hugs))LOL, the two biggest enablers in this world are the inkernet LNS and Paypal, they are my Kryptonite LOL!

I'll be rooting for you. I've made that same resolutions (although haven't announced it). I have so much in stash that it's ridiculous to buy more (but I will make my "someday" lists! Good luck!!

I applaud your resolution. I am not quite that strong - but I am going to be cutting down a LOT. I have a couple of patterns to order and I am not buying any more until they are finished and I am going to destash a little this year too.

Just perfect...I look forward to trying to do my stashless year with some excellent company..that would be you!

Good luck to you! I know I wouldn't be able to do it! I'd have to give up looking at anything stitchy - for if I see something I really love, I can convince myself to buy it!

Very courageous! May we "gift" you if we see that you are having withdrawal??

You are amazing! I can't wait to see your next project!

Take care,

Oh my, good luck! I don't think I would have the willpower...not being able to buy ANYTHING!!

Jackie said...

You must have some kind of WILLPOWER! You've got some tough rules - like no begging! :)

No such resolutions for me - I'm a weenie!

LOL...I know I may have set the bar kinda high for myself, but being that I was a new stitcher, I used the excuse, these past few months that I was building my stash, which I was, however I know me and it could easily turn into a baaaaaaad thing :) so this is a way for me to reign myself in and what better way than publicly...and as always happens when we set a high bar for our actions, we learn fingers crossed.LOL

This is gonna be hard, as the store ads are rolling in via email, and Hershner's even has the nerve to send a catalog...OMW...just kidding ;)

Matty.....Oh heavens, gift away : MY Pioneer, O Pioneer friend :) But I think you have your hands full with the farm :)

Jackie...I may have re-arrange my rules as they are a bit tough, but I am gonna give it the old college try!

Thanks for your support everyone! I will keep you all posted on my weekly "feelings" as we go through the year.

Good luck! I'm sort of unofficially doing this - all I am allowed to buy are threads that I NEED to do something that I am doing RIGHT NOW. I can also buy something for the exchanges that I am doing for others. But I am not to buy things for 'some day'. I have enough already for most of the 'some days' that might arise, lol!
