He's Home

Our boy is home! We all spent the last week in preparation and anticipation of Sean's return from his first year at College, home for the summer. I am so beyond proud of my son. He managed to adjust to a new living situation and independence with flying colors. He made the Dean's List both semesters and ended the year with a 3.9 GPA. He was involved in college activities and made a lot of wonderful friends. And those of us who remained at home also survived the year of having the first bird out of the nest and on his own. We discovered that his place in the nest is not empty, just temporarily vacant, and that he still remains very close, if not in day to day proximity, for sure and for certain in our hearts. We discovered that we can survive one of our own on his own and be the better for it. We made it through the first week, month and school year with all of our family closeness intact, in fact I think this has brought us even closer as a family. So first year down, set, match! The boy is home and we couldn't be happier or more proud. Boo Ya!
